Zbëd Gra Ner (/zbɛd/ /gra/ [external] [wife]) is a subtropical Town located in Yǐslorewgæ Zone, Qěvrìlæh District, within the Federation of Alveria.

The name Zbëd Gra Ner is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Zbëd Gra Ner was founded by Mé̄ Rāb 'Daisy Dee' Ya̋chīy Méoúch Vúńó̄ Criebolri, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Zbëd Gra Ner has a yearly average temperature of 19°C (66°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 28°C (82°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 10°C (50°F). Zbëd Gra Ner receives an average of 282 cm/y (111 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Zbëd Gra Ner covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 2740 m (8989 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Zbëd Gra Ner was founded durring the early 14th century in summer of the year 1348, by Mé̄ Rāb 'Daisy Dee' Ya̋chīy Méoúch Vúńó̄ Criebolri. The establishment of Zbëd Gra Ner was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Zbëd Gra Ner's construction back out of the project. Mé̄ Rāb 'Daisy Dee' Ya̋chīy Méoúch Vúńó̄ Criebolri pushed on reguardles, and Zbëd Gra Ner was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Zbëd Gra Ner was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the early 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Zbëd Gra Ner is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Zbëd Gra Ner is buildings are arranged arround a network of spacious packed earth streets which form a diamond shaped grid, where each diamond verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller diamond has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town sits behind an impressive looking clay brick wall. The wall is notable for querried stone blocks being used to renforce the clay bricks in the expected manner and locations. While the wall was built to the exact specifications of modern fortifications, one has to wonder why the money invested into creating such a well fortified wall wasnt spent on a less impressive looking wall crated from sturdier materials. Zbëd Gra Ner's walls would endure a brief bombardment, but only from light siege weapons. It seems more likly the town's walls were not designed with defence in mind but rather lending the town a certain air with visitors. The town's boondoggle-of-a-fortified wall are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

Before you’ve even set foot into the heart of Zbëd Gra Ner, you can smell it. The incense. It hangs about the town like a cloud. Monks, priests, and clerics are everywhere, all dedicated to the same god, all performing the same rituals to bless and anoint buildings, streets, people, animals, you name it they are or have blessed it. The same holy symbol is everywhere too. Its on buildings, on people, and even branded into livestock. This certainly loves its god. More than it loves wealth. The town is very clearly poor. Buildings are run down in ways that are not imeadiatly obvious. The people are a bit too thin. The market is very eager to sell to newcomers, but not so eager to buy from them. There’s also a general lack of the hum and buzz of healthy industry in Zbëd Gra Ner.

Civic Infrastructure

Zbëd Gra Ner possesses a city-wide Aethary Link which provides Aethary access anywhere within its metropolitan. This allows citizens who can afford the relevant devices access in their places of work, and rarely homes.

Zbëd Gra Ner has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Zbëd Gra Ner. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Zbëd Gra Ner's parks.

Zbëd Gra Ner has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Zbëd Gra Ner.

Zbëd Gra Ner has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Zbëd Gra Ner has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Zbëd Gra Ner has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Zbëd Gra Ner's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Zbëd Gra Ner has an Arcane Academy which provides higher education in the arcane sciences.

Zbëd Gra Ner has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Zbëd Gra Ner's natural decorations nor waterways.

Zbëd Gra Ner has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Zbëd Gra Ner has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Zbëd Gra Ner's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used has a sleek, linear appearance with stylized, often geometric ornamentation. The primary facade of its buildings often featured a series of set backs that create a stepped outline. Low-relief decorative panels can be found at entrances, around windows, along roof edges or as string courses. It was best known for its use of smooth finish building materials such as stucco, concrete block, glazed brick or mosaic tile. Decorative details can incorporate various artistic or exotic motifs to suit the building's function or the architect's whim. Chevrons, zigzags, and other geometrical motifs are common forms of ornament.

Due to the actions of local Kami, spring is short in Zbëd Gra Ner.

The Blood Bush near Zbëd Gra Ner are known to be quite timid.

Zbëd Gra Ner's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves consuming a local narcotic to channel Transmutation energies of tier 3 via oratory performances.
